Shanoff and Doug Gottlieb both seems to have something up their rear ends when it comes to UNC. I know the source of Gottlieb's angst but Shanoff I cannot quite peg since he has been down on UNC for as long as I have read him. Maybe it has something to do with his Florida leanings and SEC obsession but loving on UCLA seems to make little sense to me.

Thanks for reading. I partially stole that from you. I remembered that you said it, and I was wondering if the reference was to Coach K's famous response regarding being 8 miles away if a player went to Duke.

But Dan Shanoff has been down on the Heels all year. When Carolina had close wins, Shanoff used it as "evidence" that the Heels weren't as good as everyone thought they were. When UCLA had close games, Shanoff praised them for being able to stick it out.

Double standard, although I expect it from a Florida fan. :)

Eric,

You pretty much nailed it. It is a narrowly construed award and even if the "experience" factor TSN used in supporting Hansbrough for the award opens the door to examine the past, then you have to examine the whole record which still is in favor of Hansbrough. Also, employing two team losses as evidence that a single player has failed is asinine. Outside of that TH did fairly well in the two games he mentions, although better versus Gtown than GM.

vs GM: 10 pts, 9 rebs
vs Gtown: 26 pts, 11 rebs

Not to mention 32 pts versus MSU in the 2nd round last season after he took the mask off from a BROKEN NOSE!!!!

And I cannot follow then logic of dismissing Hansbrough's experience but supporting Love as POY based on speculation on what he might do. If anything there is more evidence that Hansbrough will lead the Heels to a national title than Love doing it based on the motivation Hansbrough has to redeem the regional final last season and the fact he is so intense.

Oh...did you steal "for love of Dean" from me? ;)
